Gippsland Water contract celebrates 20-year safety milestone

Broadspectrum staff at the Gippsland Water contract have celebrated 20 years of being lost-time injury (LTI) free. This LTI-free milestone is a direct result of Gippsland Water and Broadspectrum working together to uphold strong safety values.

Since 1996, Broadspectrum has worked with Gippsland Water to deliver water and wastewater services to 43 towns across the Gippsland region, providing 24-hour mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance services. We also deliver a range of asset renewals, minor capital works, professional and administrative services to ensure the assets always run smoothly. Broadspectrum currently employs 95 per cent of personnel working across the contract.

To commemorate the occasion, Broadspectrum’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Quinn, and Urban Infrastructure Chief Executive, Domenic De Fazio, joined the Gippsland Water contract team for a celebratory lunch at local heritage site, the Toongabbie Mechanics’ Institute, where each Broadspectrum employee was given a gift.

Broadspectrum’s Urban Infrastructure Chief Executive, Domenic De Fazio, said, “What an excellent achievement and a great example for the rest of us to learn from. The team live and breathe Safe for Life every day as they actively try to reduce risk and look after each other’s well-being.”

Broadspectrum’s Contract Manager for the Gippsland Water contract, Aaron Massaro, said, “Each member of the team deserves credit for their individual contribution to us achieving such a big milestone. The whole group genuinely look out for one another every day, making sure they are doing their jobs intelligently and with care.”

Broadspectrum has a history of continuous improvement in safety and has progressively reduced injury rates over the last two decades. We have achieved improvements via a series of carefully constructed and decisively implemented programs, each building on and reinforcing the previous. This Lost Time Injury Free achievement is a direct result of what it means to live and breathe safety and to uphold Broadspectrum’s Safe for Life philosophy.
