Broadspectrum and the IEPI support Port Adelaide Football Club at the 2019 Power Cup
Broadspectrum and our Indigenous Employment Parity Initiative (IEPI) have supported Port Adelaide Football Club and its central program the Aboriginal Power Cup for several years, after first getting involved in 2013. In 2019, our South Australian contracts banded together to participate in PAFC’s Aboriginal programs and to contribute $18,000 in support for the programs.
In June, we attended the 2019 Power Cup, which drew 409 students from 75 South Australia schools. To participate in the Cup, students must meet PAFC’s minimum 80% school attendance requirement. This has proven to be a highly effective way to increase school attendance. Students are also incentivised to participate in career and other programs that help them earn ‘points’ toward their participation in the Power Cup.
At this year’s Power Cup, our miniature golf course and photo booth provided students with fun ways to engage with representatives of our South Australia contract sponsors: IEPI, Skout, Easternwell, Olympic Dam, Defence Base Services, Defence Maintenance Support Services, Allwater and our Corporate Business Community Investment Team.
As students prepare to graduate later in the year, we will participate in the PAFC’s Careers Day and other activities that will engage students in our work experience opportunities, open days and ultimately employment with Broadspectrum.
