Easternwell’s Live Well program promotes healthier choices
Easternwell’s ‘Live Well’ program is designed to encourage and support employees to make healthier choices by increasing physical activity, eating healthier, quitting smoking, reducing alcohol and maintaining a good state of mental health.
The Honourable Grace Grace, Minister for Education and Industrial Relations, today visited Easternwell’s Toowoomba office to announce the Live Well program as a finalist in the Safe Work and Return to Work Awards.
The Live Well program is managed by our in-house Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Wellness Coordinator who is committed to implementing innovative and effective health and wellbeing programs.
Some initiatives and activities of the Live Well program include access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Program designed to assist employees and their immediate family members in resolving work-related and personal problems that affect their quality of life, wellbeing, safety and effectiveness at work; ‘Quit for Life’: a12 week quit smoking program available to employees and their immediate family members to support the transition to quitting cigarette smoking; gym facilities at our remote camps to encourage physical exercise; fresh fruit boxes delivered to our offices twice weekly; access to skin and health checks; weekly, monthly and bi-monthly newsletter articles focusing on health and wellbeing topics; active participation in mental health events such as RUOK? Day, Mates in Construction and Movember; and access to our employee wellness corner in our Toowoomba office.
Easternwell Accredited Practicing Dietician and Wellness Coordinator Liam Brennan, said: “We are continually creating and improving ways to support our employees to make healthy choices.” “Our Wellbeing Committee has strong support from our Executive team who meet every six to eight weeks to discuss current health and wellbeing projects as well as future programs.”
With these programs and commitment in place, Easternwell plans to improve the overall health and wellbeing of all employees while reducing sick leave and improving productivity.
In February 2018, Easternwell received silver level recognition from the Queensland Government for its health and wellbeing program. Through the Queensland Government’s Healthier Happier program, Easternwell was recognised for making a difference
