Easternwell committed to supporting local region
Together with Broadspectrum and Ferrovial, Easternwell is committed to investing and growing local businesses and keeping jobs in south-west Queensland.
Employing more than 700 people across our operations, 75 per cent of our employees reside in Queensland with 34 per cent from regional areas.
Easternwell is currently operating 13 land workover units and 16 remote location camps in the Surat Basin for QGC, Santos and Schlumberger which are supported by our head office, workshop, training centre and aviation services located in Toowoomba.
It is anticipated, having tendered on a number of new projects towards the end of 2017, Easternwell will hire 50 people in the next 6-12 months with further growth expected in 2019. Local and regional candidate attraction is maximised by advertising in local newspapers, radio, online job boards and social media; through our recruitment roadshows (one will be held in the first quarter of this year); liaison with local labour hire agencies; and word of mouth referrals.
Easternwell General Manager Energy, Kyle Koziol, said: “An enormous amount of infrastructure is now in place in Queensland with the foundations to underpin a strong oil and gas sector for decades to come. That infrastructure provides that ability to supply the domestic market as well as export gas globally supporting a stronger economy for Queensland. Sustainability of our industry is now the focus with the major projects fully moved into the production phase.”
“To remain sustainable we are focused on safe operations without injury or impact to the environment, continuing to improve the overall cost of oil and gas production and our social license to operate to make sure that landholders, local communities and Traditional Owners see benefit from our industry.”
“There is certainly a positive outlook for our industry and Easternwell has seen a progressive increase in activity through 2017 and anticipate growth continuing through 2018 and 2019. It is our view that this positive outlook will continue with a focus on sustainability for our industry for the long term.”
