The A.R.T. of creating jobs

Broadspectrum has committed to supporting Indigenous employment and working with community organisations to build Indigenous talent pools.

We are involved in several initiatives that promote Indigenous inclusion and strive to build sustainable partnerships with Indigenous organisations and suppliers.

In May 2016, Broadspectrum signed an agreement with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to deliver the Indigenous Employment Parity Initiative (IEPI). As one of just 11 IEPI providers nationally, Broadspectrum committed to employing an additional 450 Indigenous people.

One way the IEPI team helps identify Indigenous talent is through partner agencies in the community. One such group is A.R.T. Resource Services Pty Ltd (Aboriginal Recruitment Training and Employment) in South Australia.

A.R.T. Resource Services is an Indigenous owned and managed company with an innovative approach to training and employment. The relationship was established by our Defence Base Service team in South Australia and is maintained by Broadspectrum’s IEPI contract team.

Over the past year, A.R.T. has employed four Indigenous people to provide services into our Defence Base Service contract in South Australia.

Raymond Landers and Ernest Gollan have moved into direct employment as members of our Arborist and Grounds Maintenance team, while Greg Taylor and Kailen Butler remain on contract with A.R.T.

Broadspectrum’s Indigenous Employment Coordinator in South Australia, Bessie Crozier, said “I am thrilled to partner with A.R.T. Resource Services to help with our recruitment needs.

“As a company that actively promotes Indigenous employment it’s important we collaborate with providers with strong connections to Indigenous communities - they work closely with local jobseekers to help them develop the skills and experience needed to participate in the workforce.”

Working with organisations such as A.R.T. across Australia enables Broadspectrum to extend its reach into community groups it might not otherwise access.
