Promoting Indigenous corporate participation

As a recognised Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Partner of Reconciliation Australia, Broadspectrum is supporting the Emerging Indigenous Executive Leaders Program (EIELP).

The program is led by NAB and Reconciliation Australia, and, in addition to Broadspectrum, is proudly supported by Richmond Football Club, Crown Resorts, AFL, Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and the Australian Government Department of Human Services.

This nine-month program, run by the Australian Graduate School of Management, aims to bring more Indigenous Australians into executive positions. It allows participants to be individually mentored by senior executive leaders, while focusing on strategic thinking, leadership and identity, innovation, personal effectiveness and communicating with influence.

Broadspectrum’s Indigenous Development Manager, Llewellyn Williams, an inaugural participant in the program, said: “The EIELP aligns with Broadspectrum’s own RAP and active approach to achieve broader Indigenous inclusion, participation and promotion. It is exciting to participate and I look forward to receiving the insights of my future mentors in the upcoming months an apply them to our own business.”

Reconciliation Australia CEO, Justin Mohamed said “While we have seen progress in the areas of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and development by corporate Australia, we are not yet seeing many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent move beyond middle management. This program aims to change that - and see our talented Indigenous leaders enter the C-suite and Boardrooms of corporate Australia.”

NAB’s Head of Indigenous Business and State Director Victoria of Government, Education, Community and Franchise Banking, Glen Brennan, a Gomeroi man, said: “This program demonstrates real commitment on the part of participants to create ground-breaking leadership opportunities for Indigenous Australians, opportunities which can in turn serve Indigenous communities and Indigenous Business.”
