Netflow gets green light for Melbourne’s Western Roads Upgrade

The Netflow consortium has achieved financial close for Melbourne’s Western Roads Upgrade project.

The $1.8 billion project is Victoria’s largest single investment in arterial roads to date and includes eight high-priority road upgrades, almost 30 kilometres of duplicated lanes and more than 260 kilometres (700 lane kilometres) of road rehabilitation and maintenance for 20 years (plus construction) across Melbourne’s west.

Broadspectrum is working with our fellow Ferrovial Services’ company Amey to support the Netflow Consortium led by Ferrovial company Cintra and joint project sponsor Plenary. WBHO Infrastructure is the design and construction lead.

Broadspectrum and Amey will deliver asset management, rehabilitation and maintenance services to more than 260 kilometres of urban road network in Melbourne’s west during the 20-year period (plus construction).

The Western Roads Upgrade represents the first roads maintenance contract awarded to Broadspectrum since its acquisition by Ferrovial Services in May 2016.

Broadspectrum’s Chief Executive Transport, Peter Richardson said: “We are excited to be involved in helping to deliver the Government’s vision for improving the connectivity, reliability and performance of the arterial roads network in Melbourne’s west, and the positive impact this will have on communities.”

Broadspectrum’s successful track record of delivering roads maintenance services to clients stretches back more than 20 years, having held contracts with almost all government transport agencies across Australia and New Zealand. This is complemented by Cintra’s and Amey’s global experience in the development, design and maintenance of roads networks.
