Kuve Canteen opens on Manus

Transfield Services recently opened ‘Kuve Canteen’ on Manus Island which is operated and run by four local employees. All profits made from the canteen are directed straight back into the local community,
Kuve Canteen, named in honour of PNG Immigration Acting Manager, Wilson Bob Kuve who works closely with our RPC team and is a well-respected leader in the local community, operates seven days a week from 7am-8pm.

“We are always looking at innovative ways to add value and meaningful ways to engage with our local community. The canteen ticked both of these boxes and with some careful planning and stakeholder consultation Kuve Canteen was proudly opened”, said Allan Rowles, Operations Manager.

“The operation of the canteen has increased local employment numbers and opened up training opportunities to the local community members in hospitality and retail disciplines”, Allan said.

Local employment and supporting the community in which we work is directly in line with Transfield Services Community Engagement Approach.
