Creating opportunities for Indigenous Australians in regional Queensland

Transfield Services is collaborating with QGC Pty Ltd (QGC) to provide opportunities for Indigenous Australians in Queensland’s coal seam gas (CSG) industry. The Companies are working with Outsource Personnel - a 100 per cent owned and operated Indigenous small business that provides recruitment services for Indigenous Australians. Through this relationship, 10 Indigenous candidates have been employed during the last 12 months.

Transfield Services has also engaged with Murra Cleaning, a local business run by regional Queensland Traditional Owner group Iman Operations, to perform cleaning services at the administrative offices of its QGC’s Wandoan Infrastructure facilities.

“Engaging with local Indigenous business provides opportunities and support for Indigenous people within regional Queensland communities,” commented Gina Ramsay, Transfield Services’ Queensland Indigenous Coordinator. “We are committed to working with QGC to identify further opportunities for Indigenous communities.”

Indigenous Australians represent approximately eight per cent of Transfield Services' Queensland workforce.

Transfield Services was the first service provider in Australia to launch a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), setting out a commitment to providing employment, education and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
