Transfield Services secures construction contract with Qenos
Transfield Services has signed an agreement with Qenos to provide services to its A$125 million Altona expansion.
Transfield Services will provide construction management, detailed planning, bulk procurement, execution of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, and management of specialist contractors. Planning for the project execution is expected to commence this month with construction beginning in early 2012.
The expansion works will deliver significant capacity growth and plant modernisation to Qenos’ Altona facility.
Transfield Services Managing Director and CEO, Peter Goode, said today: “This contract win increases our market share and extends our position as the leading provider of maintenance, brownfield project and turnaround work in Australia’s hydrocarbon sector.”
Qenos’ Altona site covers 103 hectares, 15 kilometres west of Melbourne. It includes the registered office of Qenos as well as three plants – Olefins, Plastics and Resins. Olefins produces ethylene for the downstream plastics plants and for other manufacturers. Both the Plastics and Resins plants manufacture High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), which is used in a wide range of markets including packaging, telecommunications and pipes for water conservation, irrigation, mining and energy.
