Drones do the heavy lifting
Our Chilean mining team is using drones – or remote controlled aerial vehicles – to install electrical cables for medium and low voltage electrical systems across open cut mine pits, reducing safety risk to a minimum and saving installation times.
Before installing the electrical cable across the pits, the team runs a guide cable from the top of the embankments to the mine pit floor. The drones fly the guiding cable from the mine floor to the top of the mine on the other side, allowing then to attach the electrical cable to the guide cable and retrieve it for installation.
This breakthrough has proven our Chilean team is meeting the mining sector’s demand for innovation, productivity and safety.
