I am really excited to be part of the APPEA Conference in Brisbane this week. Having the biggest oil and gas conference in the southern hemisphere come to ‘our backyard’ in Queensland this year presents an exciting opportunity to not only share what we’re doing but also learn from our peers and customers.

At APPEA this year we are sharing Stand 237 with TSBE, an important partner organisation for us across our upstream CSG operations in Queensland. We are also giving conference attendees a sneak-peek at a handful of our current innovation initiatives as part of the Industry Hub – showcasing our latest Easternwell rig technology through our Virtual Reality (VR) simulation. This display combines a few innovation projects we have running through our Centre of Excellence for Natural Resources. So come and try out the immersive and interactive experience, you can even climb the mast of our world-first ALRx well servicing rig! The ALRx Well Servicing Rig on display allows attendees to tour and operate the rig using virtual reality – a tool we are also using for design development, work crew familiarisation and training. The Industry Stand provides attendees with the opportunity to experience these innovations first-hand. You’ll also be able to learn more about other initiatives we have underway (Industry Stand A).

We are a business that delivers essential services today, and generates ideas and solutions to improve our communities of tomorrow.

As a business, a core value at Broadspectrum is Care – care about what we do, care about the people we work with and care for our communities – and this has been a strongly held value throughout our company’s 60-plus years of operations.

How cool is it to have your Managing Director talking about commitment to enhancing regional communities in Queensland, and how businesses like ours can create sustainable growth and diversity for the regions in which we work? Come and listen Tom Quinn speak on Tuesday afternoon (Concurrent Session 3).

Launching our fourth Reconciliation Action Plan in the heart of our upstream CSG operations in Chinchilla was a highlight for me in 2018.

A highlight for me in 2019 is sure to be watching our Operational EGM Mark Williamson partnering with a key customer to represent the guys and girls working in the Northern Territory on how as a team we have moved the dial on Indigenous employment and engagement.

As a company, we are proud to be only one of 22 companies to have attained Elevate status for our Reconciliation Action Plan, strengthening relationships and opportunities through increasing Indigenous employment and supporting Indigenous businesses.

With a deep-rooted history in the Resources industry, Broadspectrum has delivered asset management services for more than half a century across the oil and gas, mining, and industrial sectors.

The Australian workplace is currently in a state of evolution – from the physical space workers occupy, to a way of working and interacting in which we are constantly connected. Technology is becoming affordable and cost effective, and businesses are investing in enterprise level solutions that are changing the way we work, transforming both day-to-day activities and long-term asset management strategies.

With the evolution of the digital worker, working will progress beyond apps and mobility solutions. Workplaces are transforming into an immersive experience, where the virtual digital world overlays our workplaces, where real-time data about our customers assets is always at our fingertips, and computer

I work in the Centre of Excellence for Natural Resources, aiming to leverage this experience and capability through a collaboration of our collective expertise – our Broadspectrum, Easternwell and ICD Asia Pacific businesses to work with our customers in optimising production and reliability, enhance the delivery of our services and create a safe and efficient workplace for our employees.

The Centre of Excellence for Natural Resources can draw on our global subject matter experts across multiple technological fields and use the latest technology and innovations to challenge best practice and enhance the safe delivery of a suite of execution services across offshore and onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG), coal seam gas (CSG), refinery, mining and manufacturing industries.
